I dined on this toy for YEARS. It was the most Tim Drake-iest Robin toy that came out in ages so you know I was all over it. Ti has the best Robin design hands down, yet the toys featuring him were so few and far between. This one though? Perfection. Wish he had a little more articulation, but we’ll take what we can get.
We also get a very classic black and gray Batman in this two-pack. Really fun design, love the way the cape and cowl look. After a childhood full of Batman figures with clip on capes that looked like turtle shells, we still appreciate a good cape around here.
The accessories they came with are so fun. A string zipline – classic. So many toys from the 90s and early 00s came with this sort of accessory and you know what, I loved em every time. His batarange is freaking huge and looks more like a battleaxe, chucking it at street muggers like he was Simon Belmont or something. Robin has this goofy “battle board” he’s supposed to ride on. It’s his board, get it? He’s shredding on a high tech skateboard because he’s a cool teenager (look, we take what we can get).
Fun thing about this line is that they were all duo packs and ALL included Batman. So if you wanted all the characters, you ended up with half a dozen Batmen. Weird choice!
Also, this line doesn’t really have a name? It’s just “Batman.” So trying to find anything out about it is essentially impossible. You see people describe it like a cryptid “you know, the one that has the bat signal in the one corner, and Killer Croc’s hand on the other? You ever seen them?” Bizarre.
And speaking of Croc, I never got him, unfortunately. But if you squint at the ad on the back of the package, you can see his design and he looks WAY more like The Lizard from Spiderman than Killer Croc. And there is a variant all green Robin? Just odd choices all the way down!
