An all time icon. One of my absolute favorite characters/classes from one of my absolute favorite games. I put literally hundreds of hours into perfecting my Spy play back in the day. I mean that literally, the loading screen would tell you your total playtime on each class, this is not hyperbole.
The Spy is everything I want in a toolset. It’s weird, it’s both extremely powerful (one-hit kill backstabs!) and extremely weak (you die in almost any straight up fight), it allows for a ton of player expression and creativity, the skill-ceiling might never be truly found.
And he’s also a hilariously silly man in a suit. He has a portable baccarat detector and a subscription to Dashing Rogue Quarterly. He has had intimate relations with your mother. How can I not love this man?
I have never opened this toy. I’m not a sealed box collector, there are very few toys I do this with. The Spy is one of them. That has to say something. It means even more than normal as this toy has a code for a limited in-game item, a hat or badge of some kind. But I have never cracked it open. Just can’t bring myself to do it.
